and Leadership Skills
The Following modules have been run as
a complete programme for Managers but
also as individual modules for various
organisations.
The delivery of the modules is completely
flexible dependent on the needs of the
organisation. They can be run as full
day events, half day events or one-to-one
with individuals (coaching sessions).
1. Developing
and Motivating Staff
Key tips and techniques for developing
and motivating your staff, including coaching
and delegation
By the end of the event, participants
will:
have reviewed how they prefer to be developed
and motivated;
understand the key ways in which they
can help others to develop;
understand the key things they can do
to promote motivation; and
have identified some key actions they
can take to help develop and motivate
their staff.
2. Managing Teams
Key tips and techniques to help managers
achieve a good balance between what needs
to be done, the needs of the team and
the needs of the individual
By the end of the event, participants
will:
understand some of the key factors the
way teams work (including team dynamics
and team roles);
Have identified their own preferred way
of working in a team and explored the
implications for their working style;
understand the key factors that need to
be actively managed to achieve a good
balance between what needs to be done,
the needs of the team and the needs of
the individual
explored practical applications of the
various theories and models examined in
their own working environment; and
have identified how they can apply their
learning to develop their own team management
further.
3. Time Management
Managing and prioritising your own time
and helping others to do the same
By the end of the event, participants will:
have reviewed their own approach to time
management and development areas arising
from that;
understand why people have difficulty in
managing their time;
understand some key techniques for managing
time effectively; and
have identified key actions they can take
to improve their own and their team’s
time management.
4. Presenting with
Impact
How to maximise the impact of your presentations
By the end of the event, participants will:
understand the key elements that go into
an effective presentation;
have had the opportunity to give a short
presentation and receive feedback on it;
and
have identified some practical actions they
can take to further improve their presentations.
5. Promoting a participative
team environment
How managers can engage staff and encourage
participation
By the end of the event, participants will:
understand the importance of culture, values
and trust in developing a culture in which
team members will feel encouraged to engage
and participate; and
have identified some practical actions they
can take in their teams.
6. Communicating
with confidence
How to be more confident in getting your
point across assertively
By the end of the event, participants will:
understand the key elements in getting points
over assertively and confidently; and
identified some practical actions they can
take to put into practice.
7. Influencing Skills
Using persuasion and negotiating techniques
to influence people effectively
By the end of the event, participants will:
have identified the behaviours that help
to build – and break – a rapport
with those they are trying to influence;
understand the key role soft skills play
in understanding the position of others;
understand the role of negotiation –
and negotiation techniques – in attempting
to gain a win-win outcome;
have identified some strategies they can
take back and use in the workplace.
8. Handling
difficult situations
Tips and techniques for understanding and
being able to handle difficult situations
By the end of the event, participants will:
understand how conflict situations can arise;
understand and have explored different strategies
for handling conflict;
have identified their own preferred style
for handling conflict; and
have identified some key actions they can
take to improve the way they handle difficult
situations.
9. Managing the human side of inefficiency
A look at the managers’ role in handling
inefficiency issues (arising out of poor
performance or absence issues)
By the end of the event, participants will:
understand what poor performance is;
understand the things they can do to try
and prevent performance problems arising;
understand their role in addressing performance
issues once they do arise (and what support
is available to help them);
have identified key strategies for tackling
poor performance successfully; and
have identified practical actions they can
take in the workplace.
